THE BOX
A small part of the minor pentatonic scale is
played as a separate scale. It is called the box.
The box is that part of the scale that uses
fingers 1 and 3.

“The Box”
A good way to remember the box is by these
rules –
(a) the box is three strings long (though
you often run out of strings),
(b) the box mostly uses finger 1 and 3,
(c) the notes are mostly in a straight line of
frets.
Except when the box comes into contact with
string 2. You must raise the notes on string 2 by
one fret to compensate for its tuning. Remember
string 2 is tuned one fret lower than the other
strings.
