(f) Staccato.
This technique stops the sound of the chord
after
you have strummed it. Staccato means to
play detached - the sounds are detached from
each other. Staccato is often called choke off
or jazz style
You would use the same techniques for stopping
the sound of the chords as you did for
deadened chords.
Example 1. Staccato on count 2.
Example 2. Staccato on the & of count 2.
Example 3. Staccato on counts 2 and 4.
Here are examples of mixing the techniques learnt so far.
Example 1. Combining staccato with a rake and an accent – another Mexican sounding strum.
Example 2. Staccato with a rake, an accent and deadened chord.
