Try these examples in 4/4 using rock strum
number 3. Of course accenting works with any
strum pattern. The last example works well
because these accents will match in with the
drummer hitting the snare drum on the same
counts. When you are playing on your own there
is the impression that there is a drummer, and
when playing with a band you are emphasizing
the counts 2 and 4 with the drummer. The
third example is also interesting as it accents
an & count.
