We will look at a few different ways of counting
the note values. Each method has some good
points and bad points about them.
Probably the best system of counting is to
still count the beats but realize that the
same shape of note will have the same value
no matter whereabouts in the bar it is.
Counting Method 1.
Here we use numbers to count the beats. “&” is
used to count eighth notes.
Counting Method 2.
This counting method is based on the rule that
what ever is one beat will be joined with a beam.
So when you are playing you would look at the full
beat instead of all the individual notes.
Just count 1 2 3 4 but play the different
combinations that fall inside each count.
